Ideal Bride is Mick and Barbara Bentham. Mick is full of great ideas that place weddings central in their life. Mick’s first great idea was marrying Barbara over 40 years ago. They met at school and today celebrate life together with their 3 children, their spouses and 9 grandchildren.

Over 18 years ago, when their eldest daughter was planning her wedding, they realised how difficult it was to source high quality wedding decorations, so Mick and Barbara had a great idea and started a business suppling quality wedding decorations to Brisbane brides and then to Queensland brides. It didn’t take long for this business to be a success, both with reception venues and brides-to-be. The business was sold a few years ago and is still a leader for quality wedding decorations.

Starting that company firmly entrenched them in the wedding industry and they began to look for ways of getting the message out to all brides-to-be and yet another great idea has led to Queensland’s longest running and most successful wedding expo which began in 1995. Ideal Bridal Expo is still held twice a year in Brisbane with 5 world-class fashion parades that feature wedding gowns from Brisbane and Queensland’s top designers, as well as bridesmaids dresses, groomswear, lingerie, mother of the bride/groom plus lots more. The Ideal Bridal Expo has everything a modern bride needs to plan an easy wedding. It truly is a local wedding guide all under the one roof. Our Queensland brides can access information about wedding cakes, reception venues, wedding photography, celebrants, bridal registry, florists, honeymoons, invitations, limousines, hair and make up, accessories and even wedding decorations.

The ideas didn’t stop there. 10 years after the first expo, they decided to publish an informative high quality Bridal Magazine for today’s discerning brides: ‘The Ideal Bride Queensland Magazine’ and ‘The Ideal Bride Brisbane / Gold Coast / Sunshine Coast Magazine’. Both magazines are annuals that overlap one another by 6 months. As good as a bride’s diary, these magazines are full of real stories and practical tips and advice. They are designed to be a wedding guide for all future brides-to-be.

This has all led to a need for an on-line presence. The website www.idealbride.com.au was launched in 2005 and has quickly become a firm favourite with both advertisers and brides-to-be. It receives over 250,000 hits and more than 40,000 pages are being viewed each month.
