Coordinating the "Perfect" Wedding

Fri Oct 31st 2008

Some brides use the excellent services of professional weddding coordinators to plan their big day. Other brides handle all the details themselves, using lists and lists of lists. There are so many things to plan and take into consideration for such a wonderful event. Before the big day, most brides have played out their wedding day in their minds over and over again. In this industry the word 'perfect' is used a lot. But what really makes a wedding perfect? Is it the flowers? Is it the venue? Is it the weather?

If your day was pouring with rain, or the wrong flowers were delivered or your cake collapsed while you were cutting it, would that make it less than perfect for you? If you are pinning your hopes and dreams on the day being out of a story book would you be devastated if it didn't happen that way?

Recently on Dr Phil's TV show, there were brides talking about what had gone wrong on their wedding day and how they can't get past it. One bride was making herself (and her husband) so miserable because it didn't happen the way she had planned it. It was an outdoor wedding and a violent storm erupted, drowning them and blowing the decorations away. Their cake did collapse as they cut it and her list went on. Her husband had a different perspective. He just said that regardless of what happened on the day, it was the day he got to marry her, so that made it perfect.

Who do you think had the right perspective?
