Fashion Is Turning Back the Clock

Mon Aug 29th 2011

Brides are embracing the overall fashion trend of yesteryear as designer gowns take on all that was beautiful in generations past such as glamour, style, intricate detail. Some designers are taking the gowns of the 1930s/50s to a whole new dimension with heavy satins being complemented by strong details such as beaded waistbands, shoulder ruffles, distinct lace inserts. While other designers are experimenting with a lot of success, around the Grecian look with chiffons, and layers - draped, floating, delicate layers.

The common feature is the accentuating of the wearer's figure, with gathers, ruching, and lace in almost corset-type bodices and waist that flowing out in full wedding glory in to wide skirted, ruffled, frilled skirting that turns a 'dress' into a sensational work of art. Although the classic sheath is still a favourite, brides in the coming year will be overwhelmed with the choice of style, materials, detailing and accessories.

To go hand in hand with this generational flashback, men's suit are taking on a the stream-lined look of the 1950s/60s. Clean, elegant lines with crisp shirts, and neat ties, they are the perfect complement for the exuberance and sharpness of the new trend in wedding gowns.
