Intimate Choices

Tue Jun 15th 2010

Their Perfect romance:
Even though we had known each other at high
school, Luke only got really interesting when
we met again when I went home to Gladstone
one Christmas. The night Luke proposed,
we were staying on the Gold Coast for the
weekend. Luke organized a treat at the day
spa for me. He had booked me for four
dreamy hours of pampering. Then we went
to dinner at Horizons restaurant and when
the waiter brought my dessert out on a silver
plate with a cover over it, I decided to wait
until Luke’s dessert came before starting.
I didn’t have a clue. Luke kept saying, ‘You
start, don’t wait for me’ but I was happy to
wait. Finally, he got up, lifted the cover to
reveal a little box surrounded by rose petals,
then got down on one knee and proposed in
front of everyone in the restaurant.
Their Ideal Wedding:
Part of our wedding ceremony
was a candle lighting

dedicated to family members, past and
present. My grandmother and Luke’s
grandmother each lit a candle then handed
the candle to us and together we lit just one
candle symbolizing of our marriage uniting
both families.
To conclude the ceremony we released 6
butterflies. I love butterflies and that seemed
a really nice way of expressing this new
season that Luke and I had now embarked
on. I also had butterflies as part of my
wedding cake decoration.
Their unique Choices:
We got married at Cedar Creek Winery and
because we only had a small wedding of 30
guests we went with the ‘Intimate Package’.
This included arriving in a horse and carriage,
the use of the chapel, celebrant, flowers,
cake and a harpist! I left everything in the
capable hands of Kylie the wedding planner
and had a trouble-free wedding day.
I had found the dress of my dreams but not
my budget and was settling for second-best
when someone told me about a website that
sold absolutely everything bridal and there
was ‘my’ dress at more than half the price!
That made it really special.
Our photographers were sonia and Chris
from sterling studios and they took full
advantage of the horse and carriage and the
release of the butterflies. Our wedding day
was truly fabulous and sonia and Chris were
a significant part of the fun and enjoyment
of the day.
After the wedding, we spent a few days at
the sheraton Mirage where it all began. That
was just a preliminary honeymoon. We are
saving up and going to Montreal for the real
thing, later in the year.
Their Bridal Insights:
First, let me say don’t leave things to the
last minute. upon reflection, a lot of early
planning would have been a wise move. If you
can involve your family in any way, do it. We
have some really great memories. •
