Real Life Bride - Sarah & Steve

Mon Nov 1st 2010

Their Perfect Romance

I am an engineer and two years ago, my firm posted me to Wyhalla.
There were no other females there working at my level of expertise,
so my social network was made up of the other male engineers and
professional contractors. One of them was Steven. Most of the time
I was covered in dirt, wore a hard hat, workclothes and safety boots,
so I know the attraction was deeper than the surface! Just before
Christmas we visited Steve’s brother in California, and also treated
ourselves to a white Christmas in New York. We did everything
you see in the movies: ice skating, riding in a horse and carriage,
shopping, theatre and shows. We even stayed at Roosevelt’s.
Christmas morning, Steven handed me a little box and while I was
unwrapping it, he started to list all the things he loved about me and
why he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and when the
ring was revealed he asked me if I wanted to spend the rest of my
life with him as his wife.

Their Ideal Wedding
Our wedding took place at Maleny on the lawn of the restaurant
where our reception was held. The views across the Glasshouse
Mountains to the ocean were stunning.
I arrived too early in my vintage midnight blue limousine. The
chauffeur pulled up out of sight and cracked open champagne and
took some candid photos to fill in the time.
My dad and I walked down a rose petal covered aisle. It was important
for us to show our friends and family how much we meant to each
other so we chose everything about our day to reflect our love. It
was romantic and elegant with lots of orchids, roses and lilies. Duetz

performed our music from the ceremony through to the reception.

Their Unique Choices
My wedding dress was by Hills in Hollywood. It was very detailed,
very romantic and perfect. My bridesmaids wore midnight blue and
the men were in classy pin striped charcoal suits.
We wrote our own vows, and included a sand ceremony. I grew
up in Mooloolaba and Steven came from Brighton In Melbourne.
To symbolise the two different families we chose sand from both
those locations and mingled brown and green sand to show that our
families were now a part of each other.
While our photos were being taken, special platters from local
produce makers were provided and Duetz kept the guests
entertained. Jess Marks was our photographer. I came across her
website and loved her photographic style. We arranged to meet and
the three of us just clicked. We had our photoshoot at an agapanthus
plantation just as the sun began to set.
Our guests received tape measures inscribed with “Our love will
go the distance”. Given our professions, we thought them ideal.
The cake took ages to decide. We went with a tilted tier cake from
Ideas in Icing. • Thank you for your story - Ideal Bride
