Their Perfect Romance

About 5 years ago, Daniel came to Queensland on a road trip with
a few mates from Victoria. one of his mates was a friend of mine
and we met on the second day he was here and his mates went on
the road trip but he stayed. it didn’t take long for us to realise we
had found our life partner. about a year and half ago, we were going
to the movies at South Bank. For me it was just a usual thursday
movie night. as we were driving in, Dan did a detour and parked at
Kangaroo Point. We got out to look at the nightlights and he brought
out champagne and proposed with a ring he had chosen for me. I
had no inkling that it was going to happen.
Their ideal Wedding
We had smooth sailing with planning our wedding. We held our breath
when the huge dust storm came in the week before, but on the day
there was only a fine haze left.
We had our ceremony and reception at hillstone, St lucia. our
celebrant, Sally, was great and as part of our wedding ceremony we
lit candles in remembrance of the grandparents who were no longer
with us. We had a harpist and flautist playing throughout. We said our
own vows and we chose not to know what each was going to say, and
that made it all the more meaningful.
Their Unique Choices
We wanted our colour scheme to be eye-catching, so we chose
black and ivory. my bridesmaids wore black and I wore a Wendy
makin dress in ivory. the groomsmen all wore black suits, white
shirts and black tie. Dan had a white vest and tie. all the bouquets
were white roses.
my hair was done in a low bun with just a white rosette on the side.
I felt that anything more would detract from my dress.
When we met Shaun murray, our photographer, we discovered
he was so easygoing, and natural. no one in the party felt self-
conscious at our photoshoot at St lucia Uni. as a photographer,
Shaun found the black and ivory colour scheme great to work with.
While we were there, our guests were offered canapés and
Blushing Bride champagne cocktails.
I used to work for Chocolate Boulevard, so as a gift to us,
they created bombonieres of little boxes of chocolates. my
mum designed the place settings and arranged lilies as the
centrepieces. We kept the guest list down to 60 so that we could
have an intimate celebration.
When we arrived for the reception, instead of being formally
announced, our groomsmen came in dancing to I’m too Sexy, then
the girls came in dancing to another piece so by the time we came
in everyone was cheering and moving to the beat. that set the
tone for the whole reception.
mum and Dad arranged a surprise honeymoon as their wedding
present. it was a week at the Whitsundays. We had such a great
time, we even did some sailing! •
