Their Perfect Romance

I was on a night out with the girls and at one place my friend started
up a conversation with Ken, then introduced us. We went on a date
the next night and in 2007 we bought our first townhouse. on our
three-year anniversary, Ken booked a stay at the Byron at Byron
Bay in a romantic villa with pampering at the day spa, followed by a
beautiful dinner. the day met all my expectations and i was enjoying
my meal when he brought out a ring and asked me to marry him.
totally unexpected and totally well-received.
Their ideal Wedding
I work for the marriott and I am often caught up assisting in events.
it is a beautiful place, but to me it is my workplace, so i looked for
somewhere else to get married, preferably near the water.
We wanted the day spent in the same location. We walked into Ebb
waterfront at maroochydore and that was it. it had the intimacy we
were looking for and the rooms for guests to stay overnight.
Their Unique Choices
I had Elizabeth the wedding coordinator showing extreme patience
with me, as being in the industry, i had to know things like the
length of tablecloths, the drop distance to the floor etc.
i knew my colour choice of grey, silver and white would blend in
with the decor. my 3 bridesmaids wore grey and white silk dresses
tailored made to their body shapes but with the same design.
they were from Ultra Sweet, Fortitiude Valley who made each
dress to order for a great price. i love letterpress so it was in all
the stationery. i had single-stemmed orchids in my bouquet and
everything carried that theme, from live plants in white ceramic
pots as tablecentres to the motif used on all the stationery. guests
could take the plants home so that a little part of our day is still
living on in someone’s home.
our photographer was Brad from Focus Films who not only is
a friend but a genius. Because he knew both of us so well, we
trusted him with the whole day. the trust was worth it.
my dress was from hilde heim, bridal designer. i saw her on my
own and thought i had fallen in love with the right dress. there was
no friend to question my choice and at the first fitting i thought
‘what have i done!’ hilde heim were perfectly understanding and,
this time with friends helping, we found a dress design that suited
me far better.
We had special little thank-yous for the guests and, rather than
clutter up our simple table settings, our friend would walk around
between speeches or courses and offer something to each
guest. there were origami containers with decision dice in them,
speciality chocolates and tear drop vases with an orchid in each.
For our honeymoon, we stayed at the Penthouse of Ebb for four
days as we are planning a trip to Europe shortly and decided not to
try and do both at once. •
