Real Life Wedding - Corinna and Rupert

Their Perfect Romance |
We met at the Rocks in Sydney at a mutual friend’s farewell party
where we discovered that we lived a block apart. The natural thing
was to share a taxi home. Rupert asked me on a date and that
was 2005. In January 2009 we were back in Sydney as part of
a Christmas holiday break. The first morning Rupert convinced me
that it would be a great idea to go out and reconnect with Sydney.
We walked towards the Opera House, and when we were about
opposite from where we first met, Rupert asked me to marry him.
I was so excited. We grabbed the first person walking by and got
them to take a photo of us. |
Their Ideal Wedding
We were married in the All Saints Church on Wickham Terrace in
Brisbane. We both loved our priest. He understood our need for a
modern ceremony with a traditional heart, yet keeping it intimate for
our small number of guests. The church ladies matched flowers to our
wedding colours for the church. It was a surprise and we were touched
by their thoughtfulness. A friend who is part of Opera Australia sang
an opera ballad as we signed the register.
|
Their Unique Choices
We had one attendant each. I also had three friends stay the night
in the city with me and they all contributed to helping me get ready
and were included in the official photos.
I bought my dress from Hills in Hollywood -I did not realise how
long I would have to wait if I ordered one. But the one I found was
perfect. I also bought a fur stole for a vintage look and a bit of
warmth later in the day. We kept the theme of the wedding vintage
and classy. The guys wore tails and the colour scheme was ivory
for me, and burgundy for my bridesmaid. We carried burgundy and
ivory tulips as we arrived in an old Mercedes. I wasn’t living in
Brisbane so I arranged for a 6 week break and flew up for the
Ideal Bride Expo. We had a list and began the search. We grabbed
brochures, spoke to as many people as we could and ended up
choosing Richard from Outlook Photography, not just because
we loved his style but he was happy to work around my work
schedule. We didn’t get to really connect until a couple of days
before the wedding.
Our reception and photographs were at Boulevard Gardens in
Indooroopilly. A highlight for me was our croquembouche wedding
cake. Instead of cutting the cake, you crack the top profiterole. It
was a lot harder than we thought and took a few goes.
As the reception was small we chose round tables, even the bridal
table. We had spare chairs at our table for friends to talk to us.
Our table decorations were lots of crystal, L.E.D. lights floating in
glass bowls.
Our bridal dance was the tango. I used to be a dance teacher and
came up with an easy routine that Rupert could handle.
Our honeymoon was at Noosa, sampling the cuisine of the
restaurants each day and taking life easy. •
