Scottish Grace

Laura and Ryan

Their Perfect Romance:

Ryan and i met through mutual friends. We
were part of the same circle of friends but for
quite some time our paths hadn’t crossed. it
was after an AFl game that everybody met
up at Ryan’s place and you could almost say
it was love at first sight. Well, it was definitely
love of his sexy Scottish accent, that drew
me to him and we have been together ever
since. it was at his 30th birthday party that
Ryan proposed. I was a bit surprised when he
tapped on his glass as I thought there wasn’t
going to be any speeches.I just thought he
was going to say a little ‘thank you’ speech,
but instead he called me over and then,
right in front of all our family and friends,
he proposed! it was so good to share that
moment with those who love us.

Their ideal Wedding:

We had our ceremony and reception
at the Victoria park Golf
c l u b .

The chaplain from Ryan’s old school (bbc)
married the two of us. being Ryan’s rugby
union coach, he had played a very special
part in his life! The theme of our wedding
was definitely Scottish. Quite a few of
Ryan’s family flew over from Scotland and
there were men in kilts everywhere. Ryan’s
dad wore a kilt for the very first time. Ryan
and the groomsmen all wore kilts. We had
bagpipes as well. The girls and I were piped
down the aisle and they also played as the
wedding party left the ceremony.
We had a traditional Scottish grace at the
wedding reception and a member of Ryan’s
family representing those living in Scotland
officially welcomed me into their family. it
was very special and meant a great deal to
me.

Their Unique choices:

The navy of my bridesmaids’ dresses
complemented the tartan of the kilts. I just
loved my creamy and ivory bouquets from
Daisy days. We had live music from The
blue cats. They were great. They looked
like Buddy Holly and the crickets and even
sounded like them. Melissa McMicking was
our photographer. I don’t think the day would
have been the same without her. She made
the whole experience fun and was able to
get our photos to us within the week, which
meant we could take them with us on our
honeymoon. We honeymooned in Scotland
for a whole month, meeting lots of Ryan’s
relatives. It seemed like a huge continuous
wedding celebration.

Their Bridal Insights:

Don’t let all the details cloud out the most
important thing. A couple of days before the
wedding,I had a bit of a melt-down and Ryan
put his arms around me and told me the most
important thing about our wedding day was
that it was the day he would be marrying me
and that meant it was going to be perfect.
And it was... •
