Don’t marry your back acne…

March 10, 2022 by Social Media Team

Thank you Skin Spa for sharing this wonderful advise with us…

Your big day requires serious preparation.

The same applies to your skin…

One of the most momentous days of your life is approaching…(you have heard us saying this in other articles about acne) …You’ve found the perfect partner, and a stunning ensemble to match. On this day you will want to feel radiant as well as confident as any bride should – and a big part of this is not having to feel any insecurities about the condition of your skin on the day…especially your back.

So what can we do?

We consulted Gabrielle Flynn – Senior Therapist at Skin Spa in Brisbane and her guidance was;

“Preparation is everything…

We see thousands of cases of acne all over the body. By nature, acne is an extremely stubborn skin condition. Acne treatments, to be effective, will consume much of your time and possibly some of your pre-wedding budget. It is essential to follow a proven treatment plan and hygienic home care, far in advance, to deliver a positive result.”

Individual body and back acne varies and will have a different severity, depth and distribution. Therefore, it is essential to customise all treatment plans to the individual so that treatment is relevant, targeted and cost effective.

Acne can be painful but it can also cause a lower self-esteem which any bride should not have to experience.  A few factors that play a role in the contribution of back acne are poor gut health, stress (guest list planning for example), lack of sleep, poor bedding hygiene, hormone fluctuations as well as inadequate cleansing of the back…

“Although back acne can seem overwhelming; with the right treatment plan, qualified therapist and your commitment, it is possible to achieve long term improvements long after you walk down the aisle…”

Some things to keep in mind when beginning your own individual skin corrections are to consider timeframes to overcome it, anti-acne diets and regular communication with your therapist. Most credible health organisations from around the world often quote durations of 3-5 months for healing to take effect with the use of medical or other options…

Some tips that can be useful in the process of acne treatment are to take advantage of the natural antibacterial properties within Ultra Violet rays, by exposing bed linen / doonas and pillows to sunlight. Frequent washing of bed linen, face washers and especially pillow slips will prevent the acne bacteria from multiplying in your very bed.

Did you know?

P.acne bacteria thrives in moist areas and feeds upon oils and fats, so again ensuring anything that touches your body including yesterdays gym gear or any linen is laundered frequently.

Why is this important?

Because acne can and does travel from one hair follicle to the next and this is a major cause of it spreading.

An important reality of acne treatment is that it can be a lengthy process, which navigates through both active acne and the repairing of the skin post treatment. As acne spreads it can in some cases cause trauma to the top layer of the skin (epidermis) and, as a result of this, scarring and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or spots, may appear.

So, how do we fix the scarring or spots?

In order to counteract and treat visible scarring after reducing the presence of back acne, multiple procedures can be performed such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, collagen induction, LED light therapy and IPL- all of which are readily available.

So what have we learnt?

Early intervention and action is key!

We trust that this insight, guidance and first-hand experience helps you on your big day.

Let’s raise a toast to a fulfilling relationship with both your partner and your (new) skin!
